After the Pulse massacre, I really felt the need to become more involved in my local LGBT community. I learned about the Indiana Crossroad Sisters (ICS) in the summer of 2016 from Sr. Purrr Do and Guard Griselda Glitterbox. ICS piqued my interest as an avenue to become involved in raising awareness to LGBT issues and, at the same time, providing me with a sense of community and fulfilling the hunger I had to serve. I attended my first ICS meeting in October 2016 and immediately felt welcomed and loved. Over the past months, I’ve attended several events with ICS members including the post-election rally at the Indiana State House in November and the Equality March in DC. I became a postulant guard in July 2017 and my first manifestation as Guard Maya Coppa Feel was at the recent Ft. Wayne Pride. I elevated to Novice in November 2017. Being a guard is the most exhilarating experience of my life and I look forward to the opportunity to continue serve, protect, educate, and spread joy.
